Amid the furor of school, homework, parents, siblings, reality tv, and oboe/kickboxing/ballet/underwater basket weaving lessons, isn't it nice to know there is an oasis of calm to be had?  Come to the Teen Advisory Board meeting, a time and space that is almost Zen-like in its quality.  Soothe your jangled nerves with pizza, and gain some control over life by helping us decide what programs, books, movies, and toppings to offer. Register, por favor.

Anime Café

Love anime?  So do we.  The Anime Cafe offers you a chance to view the newest anime on the market.  Also, we've started honing our cooking skills (sushi, onigiri, octopus sausages, etc.), so there is always food food food to be had.  Sign up so we can make sure there's enough grub, and show up.

Get your creativity on! We'll have everything you need to turn mundane bottle caps into great works of coolness!

Steampunk Jewelry

Monday, October 25, 5:30pm

Steampunk: an imaginary Victorian age that features brass and copper clockwork and steam-powered inventions that go far beyond 1800s technology. We'll have all kinds of bits and bobs for you to turn your imagination loose!

Saturday, November 13, 11:00am - 5:00pm

Thanks to generous donations from Gamers Sanctuary of Flint and Games Workshop of Auburn Hills, we will be bringing Warhammer to the Highland Library! Come and see how this rich sci-fi wargame is played.

 

Dance Away Fines

Monday, December 6, 5:30pm

Think you can out-dance the Teen Librarian? Do it and you could wipe out your late fees (not lost fines). Admission charge is one canned good item for the Goodfellow's Food Drive. You and the teen librarian get a good workout and you'll be helping others with your donation. Everybody wins!

 

Christmas Bulb Craft

Monday, December 20, 5:30pm

We'll have all kinds of supplies on hand for you to swank up some homemade Christmas bulbs: glass etching cream, paints, etc. You may also want to bring in photographs to insert in the bulbs. Very cool!

Cherry Chevapravatdumrong, Young Adult author and writer/producer on the FOX network television show Family Guy, will be visiting our library! You won't want to miss her appearance. She will have copies of her books available to purchase and she will also bring along some prizes to raffle off to those in attendance!  In the immortal words of Quagmire, "Giggity!"
