A community outreach program brought to you by the Highland Township Public Library and the Highland Township Senior Center.

Get books by the bag! Call 248-887-1707 for more information!Highland area residents who are unable to visit the library due to injury, illness, or disability are eligible for homebound delivery service.  The service can be given on either a temporary or permanent basis.  The Highland Library has many different types of materials for homebound patrons to check out such as books, large print books, magazines, and audiovisual materials.

Who selects the materials?

First you fill out a homebound application & survey.  Materials are selected by library staff based on your preferences.  Special requests can be made on a monthly basis by filling out the special requests form, or you may contact a librarian in the Adult Services department to modify your survey preferences.

How are the bags delivered?

Materials are placed in a book bag and delivered to your home.  Delivery takes place on the first Friday of each month. Delivery is provided by the Highland/Milford Senior Van Program.

Do I need a Library Card?

Yes. Materials are checked out to you on your library card and are due the first Friday of the following month.  Notify an adult services librarian at least one week in advance if you would like to renew an item.  Renewals are possible on items without holds.  You may check out up to 12 items, or as many will fit into the canvas bag.  There are no fines, but you are responsible for all library materials checked out on your card.

What about NEW books?

As long as it's on the shelf, it can be placed in your bag.  Computer holds are not allowed, but we will try to accommodate title requests.  Selection is limited to our collection.

How to apply!

  1. Pick up an application at the Library or Senior Center or apply via telephone by calling Barb Rollin at 248-887-1701.
